I started my journey with this post entranced by the way you write about nature, transported from my bed to the middle of a bountiful woodland, declaring you the best writer in the world. I then found myself transfixed on your art and your ability to combine the inside with the big outside, never failing to make something wonderful, declaring you the best artist in the world. So, congratulations, you’re officially the best at everything!

And then there's you who is even better than that with bells on.

You are an utter delight.

Nicely written bit of prose, Jules.

Spring is the best, isn't it?

I love walking through the woods with the dog at this time of year... although the tremendous blanket of bluebells that we always get, is already receding.

Early morning with a faint mist or late evening when the sun is low in the sky and yellow light is dappling through the trees, always fills me with gratitude for nature's wonder.

What a lovely bit of prose from you too, Masher!

I absolutely love walking in the woods this time of year and watching everything unfurl and grow and become a fuller by the minute.

Maybe this is highly appropriate because I’ve just seen that it’s David Attenborough‘s hundredth birthday!

I love all your artwork here, it's like a traffic jam but in a forest.

that lighthouse is beautiful, being a lighthouse-keeper is like being a monk, a lot of quiet time with yourself to do stuff like.........a zine.

once I was walking in the woods and I thought I saw a reindeer with a red nose, it must have been a trick of the light but the reindeer told me, "I'm Rudolph."

Thank you!

I love that lighthouse. It's my favourite place.

And Santa was right behind you all the time *)

I love the result very much 😍. I love nature at all seasons but spring by far is the most impressive one. I love to read your stories ☺️. And I love my hungry cats trying to sit on my phone while I'm writing this 🤣...

I would love to see your hungry cats, Heike!

Spring is my favourite too! Fresh and exciting! I love wandering around outside now. Beautiful!

Have a look at this, for your next printing session: https://www.hobbyfarms.com/3-ways-to-make-prints-with-leaves/

Ahh, yes. I have had a go at all of these, Roger. Thank you for sharing. I made a t shirt with the steam version and my mum stole it! I have some really nice simple botanical prints which I love, but I wanted to merge that with contemporary impressionism! I love the outcome! It's nice to play with nature's gifts!

What a beautiful print. Looks very Japanese. Just north of me are the Flower Fields of Carlsbad. Acres of Ranunculas. At one time, the bulk of cut flowers were grown in this area.

Jules Smith's avatar

Yes, it does have a Japanese feel doesn't it!

I would LOVE that field. Do you go and steal them?

I love it when a plan or a puzzle comes together - and you see it in is completeness. Humans always seem to be a work in progress and the journey through the forest is more important than the end (a six foot drop and a mouthful of dirt).

I do too!

We are always a work in progress if we are growing, LL.

The journey is everything. That's where the magic happens!
