I think that the perfect English picnic could be had on the deck of one of those canal boats because it would be cooler - the trade-off is no grass. But you could assemble the feast from makings below, BBQing/smoking the brisket on the deck. Sweet tea, heart attack potatoes, and so forth. You'd also avoid ants, but if the wolves want to go swimming, who is going to stop them? Not me. Then they shake themselves dry on you, so it's a trade-off with the ants.
Good grief, is that THE Crystal Collier from the days of yore? How lovely to see you here!
I do like a beach picnic! Particularly somewhere like Florida as it’s beautiful weather and the sea is right in front of you. I’ve had a similar experience ( less exotic more sea shanty) in Cornwall, with a throwaway barbecue, watching the sun set and it was absolutely perfect.
Haha! Jules, I've missed you. Your information got buried on some list somewhere and then I couldn't find your link. But hey, I think I've solved that issue.
Ooh! I did pop into England about two years ago to pick up my very sick daughter from Bristol. Definitely no time for a picnic then -- but I got a glimpse of...many things. LOL.
You forgot the part where the wolf dogs run thru the middle of the blanket with the picnic foods and drinks scattering all over. Then just as you are going to get upset they turn their heads slightly askew. Then with forlorn eyes they suddenly grab the best of the foods gulping it down in one bite with tails wagging. Time to go home.
Yes, exactly, Al ! It’s not just the weather that’s ruining my picnic days. It is my choice of pet! And of course, all footballs would be bitten and destroyed, along with any rounders balls. Kids may be eaten, and then other dogs would be told who’s boss. I think the ambience might be somewhat unsettled.
I don’t think I’d like a strawberry Kit-Kat. I’m very simple with what I like and when they start changing things, it irritates me. Kit-Kats are perfect as they are. They don’t need caramel, strawberry, double chocolate. They just need to stay kit- Katty! *)

Sweet brisket and heart attack potatoes! Oh yes! That sounds like a winning picnic! Can we call that a picnic rather than a veritable feast?
Wolves hate water. Well, one does. So one would be stealing the brisket whilst saving the other from an angry swan!
I admit, I have never been to the perfect English picnic, but I did have a pretty great beach picnic the other day. That's what we do in Florida. ;)

Oh I bet you did! Haha! Nice to see you again, Crystal!

Thank you! A quick sketch.
