Pam

In the heart of the Great British Isles, nestled between rolling hills, quaint villages, country taverns, and historical buildings, lived a woman named Pam. She was a force of nature, a living tapestry of eccentricity and boundless creativity. Some say she was a little bit inside -outey, back-to-fronty and a smidgen quite bonkers.

Pam’s house was a riot of colour, with walls painted in every hue imaginable and adorned with her own vibrant, fanciful artwork. The furniture was a mismatched eclectic array of styles, each piece a testament to Pam’s penchant for stamping her identity onto anything that came her way.

She was known in the village for her flamboyant attire and would shimmy down the cobbled streets in flowing frocks, clashing patterns, and an array of hats that would make even the boldest of fashionistas blush. She didn’t care about conforming to societal norms; she revelled in her individuality. Nobody remembered normal.

Pam had a fondness for poetry and stories, often reciting verses that seemed to have been plucked from the whimsical corners of her mind. She would stand on street corners and recite her favourite tales to anyone who would listen even if it was only the pub dog on his afternoon amble.

One beautiful spring morning, Pam’s mischievous spirit concocted an idea to infuse some much-needed adventure into the lives of her village friends. She crafted an extraordinary treasure map, complete with intricate doodles and comical riddles, and left them strategically scattered throughout the village.

The locals eagerly set off, following the absurdly drawn map full of Pam’s quirky descriptions. She sent them from place to place, rolling cheeses, rubber duck races on the river, dressing scarecrows, and then dancing around the Maypole whilst full of homemade cider. The final clue led to her vibrant cottage garden where she waited with a basket full of small trinkets. Each person found their own little prize carefully chosen to match their personalities and quirks. Pam showcased her flair for the dramatic by dousing each guest with handfuls of glitter, dried daisy petals, and confetti. It was as if the very essence of her being was made of stardust, shimmering and captivating all who witnessed her antics. Pam had succeeded in her mission to bring smiles to people’s faces and to remind them that life should be lived with a dash of eccentricity, a sprinkle of devilry, and a topping of strawberry sauce.

As the sun dipped below the horizon casting pink and orange melts into the sky, she looked around at the many faces and felt a deep sense of contentment. The verve of this magical day had left an indelible mark and the reassurance that it is often the quirkiest and most non-sensical characters who make the world a brighter and happier place.

It could be though I think, perhaps, that Pam is a bit more bonkers than me. Just a tad. There’s time…

Pam Hiltunen?

I KNEW Captain Hook’s daughter was the one who nabbed the treasure, not that knave Peter Pan!!! she and Carmen Sandiego are partners in crime and love.

I wish we had a Maypole in the States, the closest we ever came was that tetherball pole at St. Cyril’s of Jerusalem in Encino in the’ ’80s.

strawberry sauce on tarts, that is the life.

It is a map of Pam’s, my sweet!

Maypole’s can make you very dizzy and then there’s the risk of falling headfirst into a Morris Dancer. *)

PAM sports a fine little black dress, and a facial expression suited for All Hallows’ Eve. Nice work there, Julesy!
