Ink and pen drawing of The Beatles

A Massive Now and Then

Eleanor Rigby stood on the bank overlooking what looked like Strawberry Fields Forever. A massive crowd had gathered for the city’s annual summer festival. The air was filled with the scent of fried food and excitement and the buzz of conversation was almost deafening. As she watched the sea of people Here There and Everywhere she thought about  A Day In The Life of the City, how it transformed from its usual bustling self to something even more extraordinary.

She made her way through the crowd, her body brushing against those of Day Tripper strangers. She passed through the red gates to the stalls and carnival. The bright colours of the Helter Skelter reminded her of happy days. As she walked her mind drifted to Yesterday, the day she managed to get a Ticket to Ride to this gig so she could meet the boy she’d fancied forever.

She watched a band setting up on the stage and recognised them as The Fab Four, a popular local group known for their Beatles covers. She smiled, knowing she was in for a treat.

As the band started to play, she heard the familiar chords of While My Guitar Gently Weeps and felt a wave of nostalgia wash over her. The music filled her with a sense of happiness and longing, a desire for Something more. She closed her eyes and let the music take her away. When she opened them again, she was surprised to him standing in front of her.

He had a kind smile and warm eyes, and she felt that instant connection. “Hey Jude.”  I Want to Hold Your Hand, she thought,  to find comfort amid this chaos. They started to talk, and it felt like they had known each other forever. As the night went on, and the crowd started to thin, Eleanor knew that she would always remember this day as something special. “ I haven’t had such a great time In My Life.”

As they left the festival, the words of Let it Be echoed in her mind, a reminder to live in the moment and enjoy the beauty of life, for Tomorrow Never Knows. Eleanor walked away with the boy who now felt like an old friend. She knew that she would Come Together with this place, these people, and this moment, again and again in her memory.

BEATLEMANIA!!! it’s true, there was nothing like it and there will be nothing like it ever again. especially when the Fab Four performed ON A ROOF!!! DELIGHTFUL drawings, mah dahlin, I especially like the lower one, the Beatles look like Depeche Mode.

do you know the secret of “Hey Jude”? the ending NEVER ENDS, the chorus continues FOREVER…

if I was doing this I would have drawn a group shot of the lads from Massive Attack posing with Banksy…

And they have a new track coming out with the help of AI called Now and Then – hence my title. Perfect timing!

I think that would have been a great drawing. Next year I challenge you to Inktober! *)

Wow! That was…massive!

And not at all what I would have expected. There’s a lot of art philosophy to unpack.

I’ve always enjoyed those tunes, though I once got into rather serious trouble listening to Strawberry Fields at audio precision volume in a flat in a tower block on the Old Kent Road, opposite the gas works, no less.

Took a solid week to recover! Dear Lord.
